CLINICAL OBSERVATION and SUPERVISION DAYS honing the practice of Five Element Acupuncture

Divider

1) CLINICAL OBSERVATION

Practitioners are invited to observe the supervision days, to access a wider exposure to confirmed clinical manifestations (CSOE, signs & symptoms, pulse qualities etc.) than is possible in workshop or study group settings, and to receive extensive tutor input (choice of points, point combining, treatment applications etc.).

There will be a maximum of 4 observers each day to allow participation with patients/pulses in depth, and time for individual questions during the ongoing discussions. Practitioners are welcome to book individual observation days or to attend on an ongoing monthly basis (following long-term treatment planning with the same patients).

Cost of Clinical Observation: $125 per day, payable on booking. Booking requires (a) advanced registration with Julie Lawson jl@tendingshen.com followed by (b) payment in full, by cheque, mailed to TendingShen Corp. 187 Hodge Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222.

Cancellation/Refund Policy for Clinical Observation: cancellations made up to four weeks before the clinic will result in a full refund less a $25 (per day booked) processing fee. No refunds are made for cancellations with less than four weeks notice.

Timing: Days will run from 9 am to 8 pm; please arrive by 8.45 am. Please bring something to contribute to the communal pot-luck lunch.

CEUs: These days are pending approval by the California Acupuncture Board, provider # 417, for 10 hours of continuing education in Category 1 per day.

2.) CLINICAL SUPERVISION

Practitioners have the possibility of regular or occasional supervision, to enhance their understanding of Five Element diagnosis and treatment, and to receive feedback on clinical skills (including CSOE, pulses, points and locations). The Supervised Clinic is scheduled once a month on a Sunday; normally 12 patients are treated per day. Practitioners treat their patient(s) under supervision, subsequently seeing them as necessary in their own clinics (following the agreed treatment principles), and/or returning to the supervised clinic on a regular or occasional basis.

Patients pay the appropriate treatment fee (consultation, occasional follow-up or regular appointment). There is no

additional fee for practitioner supervision. Practitioners are, however, ultimately liable for their patient’s fee in the event of a no-show for any reason. All communication from patients should go directly to their practitioners e.g. cancellation/late arrival, NOT the clinic phone number. Patients must understand that they will be treated by their own practitioner under supervision, and that there could be up to 4 observers who will also take pulses and sit in on parts of the treatment. Rules of confidentiality are strictly applied by TendingShen.

Treatment Fees: Initial Consultation $200, Occasional Follow-up Treatment $150, Regular Appointment $125, all payable on the day of the treatment. Cheques should be made payable to TendingShen Corporation.

Please note that practitioners treating under supervision in the Supervised Clinic must:
(a) be legally able to treat in Maryland e.g. acupuncturists must have licensed acupuncturist status with the Maryland

Acupuncture Board
(b) hold the appropriate qualification/certification/accreditation in their complementary medical therapy and/or valid membership of the appropriate professional regulating body
(c) conform rigorously to the codes of practice and ethics of such said professionDivider
